A brief summary of his qualifications and experience:
He studied at the Anderson School Ipoh (Perak, Malaysia). Anderson school is one of the premier schools in Ipoh. The school has produced many prominent and distinguished Singaporean alumni.
He was the school’s top student and scholar of the year for his cohort in the University of Cambridge Higher School Certificate Principal Level examinations (equivalent to GCE A-Level) In that year, he was the only student who scored an A (distinction) in Chemistry. Because of his achievement, he was awarded the Chemistry Book Prize for being the student with the best Chemistry grade in the Cambridge Higher School Certificate examinations.
During his student days in school, he represented his house in athletics and soccer, and was also a member of the St John’s Ambulance Brigade.
He was awarded a Colombo Plan Scholarship by the Malaysian Government to study Chemistry at the University of Western Australia where he obtained his B.Sc. (Hons) and Ph.D. in organic Chemistry.
He worked for two years as Graduate Assistant in the Chemistry Department of The University of Western Australia. His duties included giving lectures and conducting laboratory classes to year 1 Chemistry students. He also assisted in the supervision of year 3 laboratory classes.
He then joined the National University of Singapore and worked for many years as Senior Chemistry Lecturer at the Department of Chemistry, where he was responsible for preparing and conducting lectures, setting examination papers, and grading students on their daily work and exam scripts.
After he left the University, he returned to teach students as a private tutor from 2005. Since then, he has been sharing his passion for teaching with his private students.
